Minutes of the April 2012 Orange Committee Board Meeting

The April 24, 2012, Orange Committee meeting was called to order by the Chair,
Devon Ames, at 8:00 PM, at the William Woollett Aquatics Center, Irvine,
California. In attendance were: Ken Russell, AAA, Vice-Chair; Kari Johnson,
SET; Asami Uzawa, NOVA; Andi Kawamoto-Klatt, NOVA; Ken LaMont, NOVA, Senior
Rep; Leslie Tomlinson, NOVA; Kim Hoesterey, Program; Todd Conrad, COTO, Age
Group Rep; David Prodanovich, FAST; Bill Voigt, MVN, Coach Rep; Judi Divan,
MVN, Secretary/Treasurer; Richard Davis, Officials Rep; Lynda Julson, Review;
Marilyn Bolton, Registration/Meet Ops; Devon Ames; STOP, Chair.

Secretary/Treasurer: March minutes approved.  Treasurer's report: April 1
starting balance of 10.132.11; paid SCAL for JOMax Awards ($1000); paid SCS
sanction fees ($300).  Ending balance $8,832.11.

Age Group Rep: In 2013 there will be two (2) Winter JO's (14-Under only);
JO's will not be scored.  Finals will be single age group (11-12-13-14); consol/
final 5-10.  500 Free will be offered for 5-10; 200 of stroke, 400 IM, 1000 and
1650 Free will be offered for 11-12.   There will be an SCS Championships after JO's.
Target size is 32 athletes per event, with a Winter Junior National cap.
There will be three (3) Summer JO's (all ages).  There will be an SCS
Championships after Summer JO's with a Summer Junior National cap.

The top 10 banquet is May 20.

Committee is still working on Standing Rules and Procedures document.

Senior Rep: Starting in 2013 there will be a series of H&F Senior meets.
Looking to start LC season for Senior swimming in January.   Grand
Challenge, SMOC, LAI and Sectionals remain in the Senior calendar.

This July, LAI has been moved up a week; please see the notice on the
SCS website.

Summer sectional standards were discussed in the 4/24 conference call
and will be available shortly.

Coach Rep: Starting in 2013 the Grand Prix meets will be capped at 600
swimmers; sites have been changed.   SCS will offer 'Grand Prix-type' meets.

Starting September 1, 2012, membership renewals may be done electronically
by member clubs.  New registrations must still be done on paper as done
currently.

Also starting September 1, 2012, registrations will be considered 'late'
if not turned into the meet processor or the SCS office by the due date for
a meet.  Late registrations will be subject to penalty as per SCS policy.

Sanction fees will remain the same if submitted 45 days+ early.  There
are increasing levels of penalty if sanctions are received between 30-45
days, or under 30 days.  Motion to require Orange Committee teams to pay
penalty fees if sanction requests are late; Orange Committee will continue
to pay the standard sanction fees for meets submitted 45 days+ early.  MSP.

JO assignments should be available later this week.

Beginning with 2012 Summer JO's, all SCS-level age group meet prelims (JAG, WAG,
JO's, etc) will be run fastest to slowest.

Committees need to monitor Unattached swimmers in their meets more closely.
If a workout team is specified, the Unattached swimmer must compete in the
committee the workout team is assigned to; otherwise they must compete
in the committee where their residence lies.

Officials Rep: There are more than two dozen Observed CIF meets this year.
Next year if Leagues are looking for USA certified referees, please
contact Richard Davis.

South Coast League - Capistrano Valley High School
Southwestern League - Murrieta Valley High School
Sunset League - Newport Harbor High School
Trinity League - Santa Margarita Catholic High School
Western League - Palisades High School

CIF-LA City at JCA Swim Stadium

NOTE: California Community College Champs at East LA College also Observed.

Review: There has been no meeting.

Registration/Meet Ops: Please make sure that all swimmers are registered.
This is an insurance issue.   If you have an injury please submit an
Occurrence report promptly.

Athlete Rep: Not present.

Program: The next AdHoc committee meeting will be May 22 at 7 p.m.
We will be preparing for next year's bids.

Old Business:

New Business: Scanned or faxed copies of receipts are now admissible by
SCS when submitting expenses for reimbursement.

Meeting adjourned at 8:39 p.m.
