Minutes of the November 2009 Orange Committee Board Meeting - Corrected

 

The November 24, 2009, Orange committee meeting was called to order by the Chair, Devon Ames, at 8:00 PM, at the William Woollett Aquatics Center, Irvine, California.

In attendance were: Devon Ames, Chair, STOP; Ken Lamont, NOVA; Ken Russell, Vice Chair, AAA; Mark Tierney, ORCA; Marilyn Botlon, Registration/Meet Ops, UN; Lynda Julson, review, UN; Bill Voigt, MVN; Tyler Fenwick, MVN; Ashley Yotter, SET; Evan Foley, SET; Andi Kawamoto, NOVA; Jeri Marshburn, NOVA; Brent Siemsen, FAST; David Prodanovich, FAST; Bonnie Joseph , NOVA (for Kim Hoestery).

Minuets were approved pending verification of the new committee meet entry fees.

Treasurer: No report.

Coaches’ Rep: Bill Rose is the 2009 recipient of the Kevin Perry Award. Bettie Williams received the ConocoPhillips Service Award. Jeff Julian was elected the new Coaches’ Representative.

Senior Report: All Board and Committee members will be required to sign a Conflict of Interest statement.

Age Group report: No report.

Officials’ Rep: No report.

Review: No report.

Registration/Meet Ops: No report.

Amanda Maffris from MVN was appointed the new Committee Athletes’ Representative.

Program: The Spring JO Max meets will swim all events, fastest to slowest. There is a possibility that the MVN long course meet will be swum fastest to slowest. The next ad hoc committee meeting is scheduled to January 26, 2006, but there may be a conflict and it could possibly be held on Monday, January 25, 2009.

New business: The SCS House of Delegates heard a presentation by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force in November. Teams are encouraged to have a similar presentation for their coaches and parents.  Direct contact: Detective Carlos Monterosso, 562-624-3988 or e-mail at 35698@lapd.lacity.org.  Areas of particular concern include personal information and photos on team websites. Teams are advised to have password protection on team websites.

Announcements: Michael Phelps, Matt Grevers, Jessica Hardy, Arianna Kukors and Katie Hoff have all committed to attend the January Grand Prix. Other Olympians are expected.
