SCS COVID 19 Crisis Team extra office hours, 30-60-90 day plan
Monday, April 20, 2020
The SCS Meet Schedule for April-June is being replaced with a 30-60-90 day plan (see attachment below), with a rolling start for when the Stay-at-Home mandates are lifted and we are able to build our way back in to practices and competitions.
Please keep checking the COVID-19 tab and the calendar tabs above for updates.
RETURN TO PRACTICE AND COMPETITION PLAN
1st 30 Days - SCS recommends that the first 30
days after the lifting of your ‘Stay at Home’ order be used for practices only,
recognizing both the remaining agency restraints as to size and social space
and the significant period of time that athletes have been out of the water.
Days 31 thru 60 - SCS will support the discretion of
each club to resume early competition during the next 30 days (days 31-60) by
designating all weekends in that period as ‘Free Weekends.’ Each club will be
free to use their discretion and knowledge of their club’s unique circumstances
to run meets designed to get their athletes back into competition. Number of officials and type of format will
be relaxed by SCS to allow inexpensive, creative design of said events without
sanction. Events might include virtual meets, dual meets, real time dual meets
combined with virtual meets from other sites and any variety of themed meets.
The meets can be run without sanction and with a skeleton officiating
crew. However, for times to carry
forward to SWIMS the meet must meet the normal SCS and USA Swimming standards
for sanction.
Days 61 thru 90 – Age Group Return to normal competition
SCS will sanction 6 Geo Committee
Festival meets. Meets will be bid using each Geo Committees bid process. The 6 Geo Committee Festivals are to be run
between August 22 and August 30. Each
Geo committee may determine the format and the number of sites they wish to
run, should there be size restrictions still in place.
Days 61 thru 90 – Senior Return to normal competition
SCS will Sanction a Senior
Development Regional Meet on August 7-9 at Golden West College. Should Golden West not be able to run the
meet on these dates the event will be open for bid at the 2020 June BOD
meeting. The time standards will be the 2019 standards that were used at the
2019, summer Senior Dev meet, plus 1% (softer).
The meet will be run SCY, prelims and finals.
SCS will
sanction the Mission Viejo Senior Invite on August 13-16. Time standards will
be adjusted at the discretion of Mission Viejo, to be somewhat softer than the
SMOC time standards from 2018. The meet
will be LCM prelims and finals.
Also, an SCS COVID-19 Emergency Crisis Team has been created. Should your team need to speak with someone about the resources for clubs, the "office hours" they are available outside of the SCS Office hours (M-F, 8:30-4:00pm, 310-684-1151) are posted below...send them an email in the time frame listed, and they will set up a call/Zoom meeting with you:
