May is AANHPI Heritage Month!

AANHPI is an acronym that represents the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific

Islander Communities, which encompasses over 50 ethnic groups, and over 100 different

languages! Because there are so many cultural identities represented, it’s important to

acknowledge how diverse everyone’s experiences are.

This month, we’d like to recognize the 100+ non-athlete and 3000+ athlete USA Swimming

Members within our Local Swimming Committee that self-identify as Asian, Native Hawaiian, or

Pacific Islander. We’d also like to recognize all the members of Team USA that came before us,

and molded the sport into what it is today.

Some notable AANHPI-Identified National Team Members include Natalie Coughlin, Nathan

Adrian, Erica Sullivan, Bella Sims, Torri Huske, Jay Litherland, Lia Neal, Tara Kirk, and Dana

Kirk.
