Lakewood Aquatics Senior Level Assistant Coach
About this position:
Lakewood Aquatic Sports Club, Inc. is seeking an experienced and mature Senior Level
Assistant Coach. We will fill this position with someone who is energetic, positive, encouraging
and motivating. The applicant will transition our athletes from age group swimming into senior
level swimming. He/she will also be expected to promote the sport of swimming and the
value/importance of the sport as the athletes move into high school and college.
About Lakewood Aquatics:
Lakewood Aquatic Sports Club, Inc. is a non-profit, board-governed, coach-directed swim team
operating in Southern California Swimming’s Metro Committee. We swim year-round at the
Cerritos College pool in Norwalk, and conduct morning and weekend practices at the Belmont
Shore pool in Long Beach. We have a rich swimming tradition of over 50 years and have
produced JO, Sectional, National, International and Olympic Champions.
The Senior Level Assistant Coach will work directly with the head coach and be expected to
implement the overall team philosophy on coaching, swimmer development, and team building.
The coach will run two groups from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM M-F, as well as Saturday mornings from
7:00 AM-10:00 AM. Coverage of occasional Saturday afternoon, and weekday morning
workouts will also be expected. The ability to develop and implement a season plan is required,
as well as a strong knowledge of training methods and current stroke technique developments.
At least three (3) years of swim coaching experience at club or high school level
Conduct quarterly parent meetings to educate and inform parents of important information
pertaining to their swimmers group
Attend monthly coaches meetings
Attend all swim meets that the coaches groups swim in, and assist at all senior level travel
Current USA Swimming Coaching Certification
Attend committee level meetings as a voting member of Lakewood Aquatics
American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) Coaching Certification
Strong interpersonal and communications skills to interface with athletes, parents and coaches
Experience with and a working knowledge of Team Unify
Bachelors degree and college swimming experience is desired but not necessary
Provide a resume with a minimum of two (2) professional references
This is an hourly position that has the upward mobility to lead to a salaried position. The wage is
based on experience and accomplishments. We offer health insurance and provide a safe and
