Assistant Age Group Swimming Coach
Employee Reports to: Head Coach
Job Status: Year-Rouhd, Senior Elite Group
Salary Information: Salary will be commensurate with experience
Description: The Assistant Age Group Coach provides the necessary vision, strategic planning, and implementation of swimming and strength and conditioning related to workouts for continued improvements.
Responsibilities
Assistant Age Group Swimming Coach
- Work alongside the Head Coach to develop strategies for practice times and structure, competitions, and all team related functions which coincides with the Senior and National Group's seasonal calendar.
- Effectively communicates the needs of the Senior Elite group to the Head Coach
- Attend all practices, meets, team functions, and club related activities as set forth by the Head Coach unless precluded by illness, or excused with prior permission
- Take daily attendance for the Senior Elite groups
- Attend weekly coaching staff meetings to discuss the seasonal calendar and any updates, current execution of training philosophy, recap of performance in competitions, etc.
- Use the Team Reach as the text messaging communication platform for the club
- Foster the spiritual, physical, mental growth and building of relationships with all member athletes
- Professionalism as it relates to communication with athletes/parents, attire, language, attitude, and punctuality
- Assist with the organization and distribution of team related apparel and equipment
- Maintain a current understanding of USA Swimming & Southern California Swimming policies, rules, and regulations
- Communicate with and recruit new members to the club and inform the Head Caoch of all interests
- Assist with scheduling of tryout or evaluation sessions for those interested in joining
- Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist the Head Coach with general communication towards club members on a weekly basis (or more often as necessary)
- Communicate directly with the Senior Elite group
- Assist the Head Coach with maintaining proper accounting of all expenditures during team travel and overnight competitions
- Assist the Head Coach with entering athletes into competitions
- Support and participate in team incentives (Boltz, Bolt Bucks, holiday events, etc.)
Requirements
Exhibit strong knowledge of the sport of swimming, including: practice structures, stroke instruction, drills and racing technique, national and international competition qualifications, and evaluation of athlete skill levels
Previous playing/coaching experience is strongly recommended
Strong Leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work well with the Board of Directors, Head Coach, assistant coaches, and club members
Stay current with all certifications identified by USA Swimming
