Meeting of Tuesday, September 10, 2002, @ 8 p.m. AAF Rose Bowl Aquatic Center, Upstairs Meeting Room

Meeting called to order @ 8:12 p.m.

Approval of minutes: Ruth Garrison, Secretary: Present. August minutes were approved and passed.

Report of Olympic Section Officers:
Chairperson: George Young: Present. Club information for 2003 swim guide: Please fill out and return by October 1, 2002. Entry Form policies: We cannot put on the meet form, no charge for update. Free weekend Meets: Please notify George Young if you plan to have a free weekend meet, so we can put you in our meet schedule. SCS Swim Clinic: The Clinic is the last weekend in September, please try to attend. Swim Guide Ad: Motion to continue to have the ad in 2003 Swim Guide. Motion passed.

Vice Chairperson: Kipp Sandvig: Present. No report.

Treasurer: Tom Mirabella: Present. Treasurer’s report was approved and passed. The treasurer’s books were gone over, and no discrepancies were discovered by Carol Pena and Ruth Garrison. The books were in order.

Coaches Representative: Justin Davis: Present. All Star update: Top 8 swimmers of each age group and gender based on points. Motion to send one of our official. Motion passed. Motion, for the Official will be chosen by the Official Chair, with the help of his committee. Motion passed. Bus will be taking swimmers up on November 16 and staying over at hotel and returning back on November 17, 2002.

Age Group Representative: Jeff Conwell: Present. Athlete Rep deadline voting out-come: Mackenzie Hurlston will be 2003 Athlete Representative.

Athlete Representative: Mackenzie Hurlston: Present. The final highlight of a busy August was Zones. One reason we lost was points for relays—especially the 17-18 relays. We need to work on that.

Program Chair, Senior: John Dauser: Present. Commerce did not receive the bid package in the mail and did not know the bid deadline. Motion to allow Commerce to put their bid in tonight in the first round. Motion failed. Bids first round voting: results are as follow:

Senior Representative: Rick Shipherd: Not present. No report carried.

Officials Chair: Troy Williams: Present. Each Official Chair in the LSC will have a committee. For our section Troy has chosen the following to be on the committee: For Administrative Referee: Bettie Williams, Coaches Representative: Justin Davis, Program Sr.: John Dauser, Program Jr.: Oliver Pena, and the Athletic Representative: Mackenzie Hurlston. Every official is encourage to attend the Clinic at the end of month. There might be a penalty for not attending the clinic. It is mandatory for officials to take the test each year. If you are interested in becoming an official, you must register with USAS and contact Troy Williams.

New Business: Motion to send two representative to the Clinic: One for Officials: Tom Mirabella and One for Coaches: Mike Schicora. Motion passed.
Put on agenda: Zone Quad breakdown. SCS Winter Age Group Championships: Orange vs. Olympic at Cerritos.

Resolutions and Announcements:
Ultimate Technique Swim Clinics & The Zenith Aquatic Program (ZAP) presents Janet Evans in person at the Clinic. Saturday, October 5, 2002, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Miraleste Int. School. Check-in starts at 8:30 a.m.
