OLYMPIC SECTION ALL-STAR SELECTION PROCEDURE
|
To select the best 8 swimmers in each age group, the scoring procedure is as follows:
Swimmers are assigned a point total based on their top 16 finishes in each of the designated All-Star selection events from the COMBINED results of the Oasis and Beach meets.
The point values are: 1 point for a first place finish, 2 points for second, 3 points for third, and so on. The swimmers' best three finishes in the designated All-Star events are totaled up and the 8 swimmers with the lowest point values will be selected for the team. In the event of a tie, the coaching staff will break the tie based on which of the swimmers involved in the tie best fit the relay needs of the age group.
In order to select the team with the most depth and versatility, swimmers who swim at least 3 of the designated All-Star events will be considered first. If 8 swimmers in a particular age group do not swim at least three of the designated All-Star qualifying events, swimmers only swimming 2 of the designated All-Star qualifying events will be considered next. In the event that 8 swimmers in a particular event do not swim the minimum of two designated All-Star qualifying events, swimmers only having swum 1 designated All-Star qualifying event will be considered.
