Western Zone Open Water event postponed to 8/17/19

Due to cold water temps at Castaic Lake, the Western Zone Open Water event has been postponed from 6/2/19 to 8/17/19.
For those who had entered the 6/2 event, entry fees will be refunded.
From SCS Open Water Chair, Sean Kakumu:
Due to the enormous snow pack California has accumulated over the last winter, run-off is greatly effecting Castaic Lake’s water temperature. It has been watched with anticipation that it might rise. It has not, currently Castaic Lake is sitting at 58 degrees. Too cold for even wet suits.
So, with much resignation, we will have to postpone the 2019 Wester Zone Open Water event. The new date for Western Zone Open Water will be August 17, 2019 at Castaic Lake. This decision did not come lightly. The safety of our swimmers is paramount.
We will refund everyone who is currently registered. Once the Active website has been changed for the new date, registration for the August 17 event will begin June 3, 2019 until August 14, 2019.
