Safe Sport Q&A for the new MAAPP 2.0

In response to the transition from MAAPP to the new MAAPP 2.0 which is mandated to be in place by September 1, 2021 please note the following items:


  • Please read over the attached explanation of MAAPP 2.0
    • note the yellow highlighted areas 
    • remember the goal is to present new and updated items to your team as well as educate all 'new' embers to  MAAPP (all athlete/non athlete/volunteer members) as you would each year to start your season whether you wish to provide the information through an in person parent/team meeting, a zoom parent/team meeting, through directing to the webinars available on the USA Swimming website at  or through an informational video posted to your team website.


  • Once you have presented the information outlined in each Topic area stated in the new MAAPP 2.0 (via one of the described mediums noted above) you/ the team will need the following:
    • an acknowledgement form from each family (athletes/non athlete members and supporting volunteers) indicating that they have viewed/read or been presented and understand all of the policies (listed on each of the forms [example templates are available at USA Swimming Safe Sport and in the previous email I distributed with the first MAAPP 2.0 reminder information and below] and will comply with all of the policies. (information is available in spanish) 
    • these forms may be digital and may be combined to include the Topic area from each of the presented forms with 1 signature area to include signatures of all parties (swimmer(s) parent(s) official(s) volunteer(s)
      • Topic Areas to include: (Example to state: I have read and comply with the (each of the Topics listed below)
        • One-on-One Interactions 

Meetings and Individual Training Sessions 

Electronic Communications 

In-Program Transportation and Lodging 

Locker Rooms and Changing Areas 

Massages, Rubdowns and Athletic Training Modalities

      • Once this form is received by the Team the team may then complete a document/form to be sent to Southern Cailfornia Swimming www.socalswim.org  (attn: Nicole Hendry) to be on file with SCS as to the team's compliance with the new MAAPP 2.0 policies for the 2021-2022 Season.
        • please note an example of the afore mentioned form is attached as presented to me by Greg Wilson (Thank you Greg) or you may construct your own form for compliance.
