MAAPP UPDATES 2025

New 2025 MAAPP must be implemented by all LSCs and Clubs by January 1, 2025 regardless of Safe Sport Club Recognition Status

A friendly reminder that
the updated Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP) must be implemented fully by January 1, 2025. Please do not let this stress you out or scare you. This simply means that all Adult Participants must now follow the updated MAAPP. There are minimal updates which are highlighted in this document. You may also download and review the
October MAAPP webinar along with the Webinar Slides to better assist you in following the changes.

MAAPP must be reviewed and agreed to by all athletes, parents/legal guardians, coaches and other non-athlete members of member clubs on an annual basis with such agreement to be retained by the club or LSC, as applicable. Likely you follow this by having your families agree to policies and team expectations at the beginning of the season.

Thanks to you all, USA Swimming members are familiar with the expectations of MAAPP. It is always helpful for clubs and/or LSC’s to continue to remind parents/legal guardians and athletes what MAAPP is and how Adult Participants interact with minors, especially when updates occur. Let families know by email, parent or athlete meetings, club or LSC newsletters, or any other creative way that you already share information with your members. Note that you do not need to send any acknowledgement or agreement to USA Swimming. Simply retain it for your own records.

Thank you all for your continued support and care of what Safe Sport means- creating an abuse free environment in our sport.
